No more Fatty Liver!
I was diagnosed with fatty liver on 14th May and today (19 October) had a scan which showed a normal, healthy liver, much to the surprise of the Radiologist. I took Livatone Plus twice daily, reduced my alcohol consumption down to 1 glass wine daily (sometimes low alcohol wine) and as a result, lost 5+ kilos. I ate more vegetables and drank vegetable juices. I am now borderline underweight but have a healthy liver!

Tell me a story, how long is a piece of string?
In over 25 years, I have had never had a nearly normal Liver Function Test, that is, until I went onto Dr. Sandra Cabot's Liver Detoxification Program.
While driving a Melbourne tram in 1984, when turning on a light switch in the driver's cabin, I received an electric shock of direct current source from the overhead wires. As a result of this shock, I developed epilepsy for which medication was prescribed. I also have an Acquired Brain Injury.
I have spent years being on and off medications such as Tegratyol and Lamactil for epilepsy. For awhile, joining in on the cocktail mix, Fosomax for Osteoporosis. I figured out much quicker than my Doctors, I believed these medications for me
were lethal and toxic mixture which was slowly killing me. It's often more difficult to get off medication than it was to start taking them. When I wanted to come off Tegratyol despite the evidence from LFT blood work that showed I could no longer tolerate the medication, my Doctors would not take me off it. Eventually I realised I had a choice – keep taking the medication and being ill and keep my Driver's License or, go off the medication and get well and hand in my license. The choice to me was obvious. Wellbeing is more important and without it I wouldn't have a life. Eventually, I chose to go off the medication and was weaned off it slowly and had to hand in my license for three years. I could then get a Doctor’s report and blood work done and go for my license again. Living in a country town without public transport was a major inconvenience however I really believed, if I continued to take the medication I would suffer.
It took me a long time to recover from the damage to my liver and kidneys. I have had four major liver bouts and a kidney tumour since 1984.
In mid 2009 I got a bout of swine flu which strangely would became the silver lining in my cloud. As a result of swine flu I discovered my LFT were escalating at a rapid rate. My Doctor suggested I go onto Dr. Sandra’s Program for several months and monitor my progress. I decided to juice for the first week of detox and then go onto Sandra's program. Instead of two weeks, four weeks, two weeks Liver Detoxification Program I did a month, a month and a month. The results for me were so astounding and almost unbelievable; in particular, my LFT's which were almost normal for the first time in nearly 25 years. I feel better than I have in years. My partner says I now have colour in my face.
We have decided to stay on this program with a bit of tweaking. We both feel so well on it why come off it. My heartfelt gratitude to Sandra for this wonderful program, her care and expertise, I have a new lease on life. This program has proven to be magical for me.

I had always thought that I had eaten healthily until two weeks after my 40th birthday I ended up in hospital in severe pain and very ill. I don’t eat sweet foods, don’t like chocolate, and hate most takeaway foods as they always left me feeling bilious and my diet consisted largely of fruit and vegetables with whole grains and nuts, fish, chicken and red meat 3-4 times a week. It was found that I had a gangrenous gall bladder that had burst and peritonitis had set in. I was rushed into theatre for emergency surgery. I wasn’t overweight and had been careful about fat consumption as deep fried food or oily foods made me feel sick. Over the next ten years I read up on everything I could regarding healthy diets and was following a low fat diet. My weight just kept creeping up and my skin, nails and hair became extremely dry. I had always had lovely shiny healthy hair and now it looked and felt like straw. I was by now feeling unwell, nothing specific – headaches, sore joints, nausea, stomach pains, extreme tiredness and prone to diarrhoea if I ate certain foods. I also often felt as if my insides were on fire. I would feel so hot. I was told that I was getting older and should expect this. Blood tests didn’t reveal an underlying cause.
I then read a book by Cyndi O Meara called Changing Habits Changing Lives and began eating good oils, avocados, oily fish and whole milk straight from my cow and plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables plus nuts, pulses and whole grains. I found that I picked up and began feeling better but my weight rose until I had become slightly overweight. My skin no longer was dry and flaky and my nails no longer split and flaked. I walk most days for about an hour, dance for 2 ½ hours each week and am fairly actively involved in running an orchard and citrus packing shed.
Go Vita store in Bundaberg sent me their magazine and I saw the article offering a free liver health check. I have been following the Liver cleanse diet for just 1 week and have already lost 1 ½ kilograms. The nausea I experienced first thing each morning left after 3 days and I already have more energy. Amazingly I have lost 3 ½ cm off my waist. All the weight that I have gained (10kg) was around my abdominal area and made it uncomfortable to sit down for long periods. The pain that has been with me(under my rib cage on the right side) since having my gall bladder removed has left. I have been to doctors about the pain and they would find tenderness when they pressed but liver function was within normal ranges when a blood test was taken. I felt like a hypochondriac. I had gone from feeling well and energised to feeling so tired that some days it was impossible to fulfil my duties. I didn’t look forward to the new day as I would be aching all over and felt like I was going to vomit for the first couple of hours after waking up.
I know that I still have another 5 weeks to go but am encouraged to keep going as I want to have the energy and vitality to keep up with my younger children and grandchildren. I am taking supplements as suggested in Liver Care Report, and have been avoiding red meat and dairy products. Nearly everything else was the same as I had been eating before. I am also making sure to have plenty of salad with my lunch as I had become slack and was just having a sandwich with little salad. I prepare raw vegetables with various homemade dips to have on hand when I feel peckish. The fruit bowl is filled with tempting variety of seasonal fruit for when I feel like something sweet. I am encouraged to believe that this will prove to be the most profound decision I have made regarding my health.

I made a grilled Ahi tuna over Buckwheat soba noodles with raw mung bean sprouts and scallions in ginger, garlic and wasabi dressing that was first rate. Your diet has re-acquainted me with the foods that I honestly love to eat but for granted. I am celebrating today, with a cup of green tea, after receiving my recent lab results. I began the LCD on 5 Nov and ended on 29 Dec (no cheating over the holidays!)
Total weight lost in 8-weeks 23.5 pounds (10.66kgs).
When I went to see my doctor for the follow-up blood work last Friday, I brought your LCD book with me and shared your regimen. He said I made his day and only wished more of his patients would have such great results! I told him is was easy with your LCD and supplements.
I still have about 25-30 pounds (11-13.5kgs) to lose so I am continuing to follow the 12 Vital Principles plus juicing everyday and eating little or no red meat or dairy.
